A nonbinary performer born in Louisville, KY, Sarah came to the UK in 2007 to take an MA in Classical Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama as a Fulbright Scholar. In association with RCSSD, they have trained at the Moscow Arts Theatre and developed work with the International Clown Research Project.
In 2018 they won the BroadwayWorld Sydney awards for Best Actress (Portia/ The Merchant of Venice) and Best Supporting Actress (Francis Flute/ A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as the only non-male member of an “all male” cast, appearing as Patrick Griffin in a project exploring Shakespearean ideas around gender norms which made national news in New Zealand. They were a member of the award winning ensemble for the National Arts Service’s “The Winning Crowd” and developed and performed the Les Enfants Terribles award-winning “The Inevitable Heartbreak of Gavin Plimsole” with SharkLegs Theatre. (See More in Theatre Maker)
They’ve been a visiting lecturer for Ithaca College, Southampton Solent, Royal Holloway and the University of Macedonia, teaching Actor/Director Communication, Laban Technique, Clown and Voice. (See more in PersonalTuition/Coaching)
As an Autistic trans artist, their creative practice focuses on exploring identity, specifically questions of queerness and disability. Independent projects have included directing the web series “9ft²”, which featured a number of queer and neurodivergent artists (See More in Theatre Maker), and writing and voicing work for the upcoming “The Crimson Gauntlet’s Guide to Disabilities and Neurodiverse Identities” (See more in Voice Over).
